Arrowhead Elementary offers students many opportunities for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
After-School Sports: Get in the game with After School Sports Club! Open to all 4th graders, this club lets students try out a variety of sports while building skills, teamwork, and confidence. It’s all about staying active, making friends, and having fun in a positive, supportive environment. The club is capped at 25 students. However, the club offers multiple sport activities allowing different students the opportunity to participate.
Band: This ensemble is open to any 4th grade student in the district interested in learning a band instrument. From clarinets to trumpets, bells to trombones, our band program offers students the chance to learn a wind, brass, or percussion instrument. We have 30 minute lessons once a week and before school rehearsals, as well. Students will learn how to play as an individual and in a group, build their musical knowledge, and showcase what they’ve learned in the 4th Grade Spring Concert. They also have an opportunity to perform in Band Day which is a spring event that showcases the talents of all band members, grades 4-12, in Methacton School District. For more information about the band program, including how to contact
Mrs. DiRenzo, please visit the band
website.
Chime Choir: Fourth grade students are invited to join the Arrowhead Tone Chimes ensemble. The tone chime choir is a small, voluntary, extra-curricular activity that meets once a week for 8-10 rehearsals in the fall leading up to our concert. Each member plays a special role in this cohesive ensemble. The 11 student musicians selected for this ensemble will learn proper playing technique to perform complex harmonies and read advanced musical scores. Arrowhead Elementary is excited to offer this musical opportunity for students to join an instrumental ensemble! Contact
Mrs. Fiore for more information.
Chorus: Arrowhead is home to a 3rd and 4th Grade Chorus. All 4th grade students are invited to join the chorus in the fall, while new 4th grade members and 3rd graders are able to join in the spring. Chorus is a voluntary, extra-curricular activity that meets once a week for 8-10 rehearsals leading up to the winter and spring concerts. Students will learn proper vocal pedagogy, breathing and vocal technique for age appropriate repertoire. In addition to our concerts, the chorus performs at our Veterans Day Assembly and other special events throughout the year. All students are encouraged to join, even if they have not participated in chorus before! The only requirements are a willingness to sing, have fun, and support fellow chorus members. Contact Mrs. Fiore for more information.
Math 24 Club: Mrs. Danielle Pashley sponsors the Math 24 Club for interested 4th grade students. The Club revolves around the game of 24 where students play in a fun, competitive environment and build their mental math skills using the four mathematical operations. Contact Mrs. Pashley for more information.
Orchestra: Mrs. Susan Basalik teaches stringed instrument students in third and fourth grades at Arrowhead. We offer violin, viola, cello, and bass as instrument choices and all instruments are kid-sized so that students can have an easy and fun time learning how to play an instrument. Lessons are given one day a week and students attend before-school rehearsals one morning a week. Orchestra students perform music of all styles at our winter and spring concerts. Contact Mrs. Basalik for more information.
Student Council: The purpose of Student Council is to help students learn to organize and implement service projects to benefit the school and the community. Students learn leadership, problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills. Student council also encourages school spirit, citizenship, respect and responsibility. The student council is made up of three representatives from each fourth-grade classroom. Homeroom representative elections are held in September each school year. The current advisors are
Mrs. Raley,
Ms. Kovach and
Nurse Kelly.
